The Tiri
Pronunciation: (Tih-ree)

The sun creatures, very Gazelle like, seem to form from the clouds themselves. Personality wise, the Tiri tend to be bright and fun loving - with a very quick temper. It doesn't take them very long to go from bright and 'sunny' to scorching mad - So I'd certainly watch what you say to them! The Tiri are also very protective of their companions, often acting first and asking questions later. Even the calfs seem to hold the desire to protect, though the younger of the species tends to be less likely to run head first into anything. They are not very strong, when they emerge from the scroll, and are smart enough to run away from danger.

Adults and calves sport no wings, and cannot fly, but they seem to be able to hover a few inches off of the ground should they truly wish to. Ability wise, the Tiri have the gift of creating light. The degree of their abilties are decided by their Companion. A Tiri with a relatively strong companion may have better control over the degree of light that's produced, while a Tiri with a lesser skilled companion may be unable to produce a light brighter than a candle flame. Nothing, of course, is set in stone. A Tiri with a strong will hold the key to awakening stronger abilities. Young Tiri calves do not possess the ability to sustain light, though small non-ignitable sparks may fly from their hooves if they are angered. These are the most common species, meant as a way to guide their companion's way through the dark and toward the Light. They are a reminder that through even the blackest of situations, there is a light up ahead.

Shifters:

These Astrals have no real form, shifting between the three forms of Tiri, Caelestis & Pan'i since the magic that binds them is confused. They don't have set times on which they shift, they shift at will. The ability is granted through a rare gem, given to help stabilize the otherwise unstable magic.

Mutants:

Mutant Tiri are Tiri born with traits not generally found in the species - Hair, wings, different tails, missing limbs, different horns...Anything that is out of place. It's rare that genetic mutations happen, but it generally doesn't change their abilities, temperament, or racial qualities...With a few exceptions.

Mutant - Kitty

Through time, magic can be manipulated - including the special celestial magic that creates Astrals. The weakness of the Machka created a species of Tiri meant to protect the weaker of the Companion races, taking on traits of their makers in the form of long feline tails - and sometimes sharp canines meant for tearing meat. The Machni - a name that they tend to call themselves - have a slight increase in dexterity. They do not possess the ability to hover in the air like their Tiri cousins, but do have the same ability to sustain light. Their senses are more on par with that of a feline's, thus it is harder for you to sneak up upon them. Machni tend to appear to Companions that need extra protection - not just the Machka. They often stand on guard at night, having excellent night vision and exceptional hearing. They are not strong, and cannot take many hits, but they do hold the ability to raise alarm faster than their cousins.

Mutant - Dragons

Dragon Tiri are rare - While most Astrals cannot survive without their Companion in existence, Dragon tiri can. How they are brought into existence it's unknown - it is rare for them to emerge from the scrolls that Khalindra writes and often times they will just...appear. They are larger - about four times as large as their Tiri cousins - and often have armored scales in place of fur, battle-ready horns, and protective spikes. While they are built like a tank, they are slow on ground, finding it difficult to remain in balance with so much extra weight. However, once they take to the sky they are nearly unstoppable. They hit hard, and can take a lot of hits, but they only have limited energies due to their bulk. They cannot produce light - but they can produce fire. As fiercely protective as all of the Tiri are, having a Dragoni at your side is definitely in your favor. They treat you like you are one of their hoard - and they do, very much, enjoy collecting anything remotely shiny. Their temperament is more of a dragon than a Tiri - slow to anger, but once rage is enduced not likely surviveable.

Dragoni also have the uncanny ability to form bonds deeper than any other Astral - Especially with another dragon. They will only mate with other Dragons. When they create a life-mate bond, they will feed off each other's energies and live in a bond closer than any other in any existence - knowing each other's thoughts, feelings, and pain. While the Dragoni don't need a Companion it wasn't always that way. It used to be that only once a life-mate bond was made could they survive on their own. In fact, long ago, Dragon Tiri would mate and leave their companions to create families of their own. They became well known for having stronger Tiya than most any other Astral because the Companion races did not know how they would survive without their bonded. Believing them to be the answer to eternal life, many of this race of Tiri were destroyed in attempts to find the solution to death. To no avail. As such, the Dragoni are near extinction. They withdrew from the Companion races to find a safe haven and live in peace. They very rarely bond with a Companion and when they do, this bond is unbreakable.
